Film Viewing: The Hidden Rebellion, the Untold Story of the French Revolution
February 8, 2018 @ 3:30 pm - 6:30 pm
The Hidden Rebellion tells the story of simple, faithful people who “gave up the world…for heaven.”
This docu-film is a searing examination of the events and, even more importantly, of the ideas surrounding one of history’s most chilling instances of genocide – the 150,000-person extermination of the people of the Vendee during the French Revolution. The destruction of the population in this idyllic French countryside was a documented goal of the French Revolutionary forces and raised important questions related to freedom of conscience, political tyranny, and religious persecution that are highly relevant considering today’s geo-political environment.
The French producer, Daniel Rabourdin, will present the Wake Forest premiere of his movie and have a Q & A.
The viewing will be in the Dining Hall. Donations are suggested.
